Easy Ideas to Organise Your Water Bottle Collection

Let's talk about a problem we all secretly have before we discuss the water bottle storage solution. I'll be the first to admit that we can have a bit of a hoarding tendency when it comes to water bottles. Some of them you buy impulsively, others you've had for years, and others are gifts.

But what do you do with all of these water bottles and travel mugs?  I have written a post on How to declutter your water bottle, travel mugs and flasks which I think you might find useful – it’s a 15-minute task that goes in-depth on how to decide which ones to keep, and which to discard.

Water Bottle Storage Ideas

Got all your best water bottles together? Yey! Now, it’s time to organise them all. Here are some of my favourite water bottle storage ideas. I’m sure you’ll love them too:

Plastic Water Bottle & Wine Rack Storage

Declutter and organise your water bottles

Wine racks aren’t only good for organising your bottles of wine. You can use it literally with any old wine rack lying around your house. However, if you don’t have one handy at home, I would suggest you get a plastic free-standing water bottle and wine rack.

The shelf has three tiers and nine compartments, which allows it to hold nine bottles. Because they can be stacked, the racks also aid in making use of vertical storage space.

Plastic racks have solid walls, so you can use them to store any size bottle without worrying about them falling through, while metal and wooden racks also work perfectly well. Additionally, you can keep these wine racks almost anywhere; on the kitchen counter, in a cabinet, or the refrigerator when you're keeping your drinks cool, it always works well.

Use an Over-the-Door Organiser

This one is for you if your cupboards and worktops in your kitchen are at capacity. If you need to store lots of bottles but have a small amount of space, over-the-door organisers are a great and affordable option.

You can keep bottles and their caps together in the same pocket as an over-the-door organiser like this one. You won't ever have to throw away another bottle due to a lost cap thanks to its 24-pocket capacity!

Using Drawer Dividers in Kitchen Drawer

If you're planning to organise your water bottles in a kitchen drawer, don't forget to add dividers! If you have a few deep draws in your kitchen, they're ideal for storing water bottles.

To avoid bottles falling over in the drawers every time you open and close them, these bamboo drawer separators are a must-have for organising your drawers. These can be customized to fit any size drawer and include anti-scratch pads to make it easier to organize without damaging the wood, if you don’t want to spend money – you can always make your own 😊

Plastic Storage Baskets

Despite this being the simplest water bottle organising idea, this is one of the most highly effective. Inexpensive baskets are can be used as a bottle storage rack especially if you don’t have a uber large collection.

Plastic Storage basket Cheap and Easy to Use

These baskets are one of my favourites from Amazon. I have them all around my house – I literally mean ALL AROUND my house - mainly in grey (so they are interchangeable and occasionally in black both low and high sided - and they are so very helpful in organising ANYTHING and EVERYTHING including water bottles, travel mugs and flasks.

This is my favourite way of storing just about everything I own.  And they are relatively cheap compared to the others that are around.

How do you store water bottles long-term?

When you're finished using them, wash them and keep your reusable water bottles in the same location - this way you will always know where it is, and won’t feel the need to have to buy another. Depending on your needs, you can select one of my suggestions from above or perform a DIY.

To get the best results, keep your bottles from spending too much time in the sun. Additionally, always wash and thoroughly clean all bottles after use to prevent hard water or calcium deposits on the walls. Although it won't damage your water bottle, it sure isn't attractive.

How do you organise your water bottles in the fridge?

Bottles can typically be stored vertically and horizontally in the fridge. However, you can stack your water bottles without taking up too much space on a stackable wine rack if your refrigerator isn't big enough to accommodate them.

You always have access to clean, crisp water thanks to your water bottles. With proper storage and organisation, your bottles will last longer, and you will never have to fumble around in the kitchen looking for them again.
